It is with great pleasure that I introduce my first book of Shoopart. What started out as a 35-page collection of previously shot Shoopart-work from the City of Goldsboro, turned into a 99-page collection of the City’s history, old photographs, and some Shoopart. We’ve looked at Wayne County and Goldsboro’s past as far back as 10,000 years, when the first immigrants reached this area. We discuss the founding of Goldsboro, and how some corn liquor helped establish this railroad town as the county seat of Wayne. The more I worked, the longer the book became. Speaking with local historians and working with the Wayne County Public Library, I kept learning interesting facts that I thought, “well that has to be in the book, and that has to be in the book; nope, can’t leave that out,” etc. I hope this brief history leads readers to dig deeper into the rich narrative of Goldsboro.
